That's the MECHANISM by which the aircraft was brought down (or at least
the strongest candidate so far seen). In no way does that negate the
possibility of a pre-faked crash site based on foreknowledge of that
event.
Remember, the very character you mention can see bits of his future AND
has been told it was his destiny to be on the island. With all the other
spooky goings-on, is it too much to allow the possibility that someone
else had foreknowledge of events we have only seen play out linearly,
including the crash of Flight 815 and the actions of its survivors? Ms
Hawking for one seemed to be VERY gifted in the prescience department.
