I don't know... To me, the news reports on the TV, just seem to take the
find in stride, as if they were expecting the missing jet to show up
somewhere in that particular vicinity.
Now apply this same thought, to let's say, back in the 60s (I think)
when divers discovered the remains of the Bounty off of Pitcairn.
..Now how different would the news reports have been, if they had dove
down near the Bounty and discovered the "Titanic" ?

I guess It is possible that Captain Norris was BSing the Losties, and
that they were actually flying NW towards Bali, instead of towards LA.
However, we also know that the jet they were on didn't end up in the
Sunda Trench. ..Plus there would have been ATC information to back up
its location for the first 6 hours. ...So, if Daniel and Desmond are
lying, then the island must be over by Bali, or else the ATC personnel
were snoozing for 6 hrs., and pulled a Nixon with their tapes, or else
we're looking at a different time-line/universe.
Given what we know, I would suggest the jet was actually flying NW,
rather than NE -- It hit some weird Bermuda triangle near Bali. ...The
plane duplicated, and one went down into the Sunda Trench, and the other
was miraculously transported over to an island in the Pacific, but
retained the same time zone. ..This is the only explanation I can come
up with (as weird as it sounds) that seems to satisfy all contingencies.
..Perhaps it's a case of destiny: They "were supposed" to fly to LA...
But ended up going in the wrong direction. ..An accident happened which
caused the jet to crash. ...However, because it wasn't the Losties
"time" to die, they were transported to the opposite location on the
Pacific side, where they originally would have been (had the jet been on
the correct route) and thus, are now all still alive. Jesus... Give
me a wall to bang my head on ;-) ...Jon
